Formats for Technology in Motion

  • Many schools use technology training funds to arrange for substitutes to cover classes. That way one sub can cover classes for move than one teacher by rotating from class to class while teachers attend 2 to 3 hour in-service sessions.
  • Some schools prefer an after school format and are using technology training funds to offer stipends to teachers.
  • Several of our in-service programs involve several days of training and can be spread out over several weeks or months.
  • Train-the-trainer: More advanced teachers receive training that they will deliver to the rest of their faculty or department
  • Coaching or Mentoring: Provides support for teachers during the school day by answering questions and helping teachers develop technology projects
  • Model Lessons: Collaboration between teacher and trainer on a specific lesson to integrate technology effectively – taught by the trainer and observed by the teacher(s) with a follow-up discussion
  • Online courses: Readings, resources, tools and strategies shared via the Internet – best if paired with face-to-face opportunities.
